fisherman Going north from the spectacular green of the southern mountains, New Zealand remarkable beauty doesn't end. The Bay of Islands, a huge national park, is an absolute must to cruisers! 140 tranquil islands, steeped in the country's early history, offer miles of hiking trails, secluded beaches and scores of breathtaking anchorages.

$2775 dbl. occ.//: RT air from LAX to Auckland, transfer to boat, hotel, 12.5%tax, most meals, flotilla parties, 2 pre-trip meetings....

Private charters are welcome at normal yacht rate.

Flotilla Itinerary:

To take advantage of weather or cultural events, the flotilla coordinator may alter the itinerary.

Fly from LAX to Auckland, NZ, over the International Date Line and arrive in Auckland early March 6th. Travel 3hrs north to the Bay of Islands. Spend the night in Pahia.

Day 1: After chart and boat briefing, sail for the 150yr old Russel township. Meet at the Duke of Marlborogh pub for a crew party. (D,H)

Day 2: Sail to Roberton I for exceptional hiking and swimming. Anchor at Pipi Bay, Moturua I for fresh mussels. (S, H)

Day 3: Cruise north 35mls along Cavalli I and anchor at Whangaroa Hbr, an extinct volcanic crater open to the sea. Inside you'll be surrounded by towering cliffs and waterfalls. (D, F, H)

Day 4: Spend the day exploring one of the most spectacular natural harbors on the North Island, and hike to NZ's oldest timber mill. (S,D,F,H)

Day 5: Reach back to the Bay of Islands and drop anchor at Army Bay. (S,F,H)

Day 6: Explore Albert Channel to Oke Bay, hike to the Majori Cemetary for sunset(S,F,H)

Day 7: Fish off Cape Brett on the way south to the spectacular Whangamumu Harbor--barbequed fish for dinner....(S,F,H)

Day 8: Sail to Marsdon Cross for lunch. Anchor for the evening at Dove's Bay in the Kerikeri Inlet. It's a pleasant cruise back to the Mooring's Base. Return the boats by noon. (S,D,F,H)

Take the next flight out or spend the week admiring the mountains and coastlines of this enchanting country.

Note for the log: Extra charter days can added to suit.

Specifics: Our 3-6 boat flotilla vacations welcome individuals, couples and private groups. We share in the sailing and the good times. The lead boat will have a licensed Capt. and room for 3-6 sailors or non-sailors depending on boat. All other boats will have a competent skipper and at least 1 competent crew. Ask for details on ASA Bareboat Chartering certifications.

Prices are based on 4-6 crewmembers: yachts sleep 6-10; 4 is very comfortabl. $200/boat due upon reservation; 25% due 180 days before charter; 25% @ 90 days; 50% due @ 30 days. Early payment on air arrangements may be necessary. Other expenses: meals ashore, dockage fees, additional accommodations, NZ departure tax (approx $15US).

The Boats are fully-equipped Moorings 40.5' to 51.0': 3-4 double cabins, main salon berth(s), elect. anchor windlass, dinghy, outboard, barbecues, CD or tape players, sheets and towels...

Dining: The split-provisioning plan includes: all breakfast and lunches, 4-6 dinners, snacks and a complete galley. Everyone shares in preparation and clean-up. Places to dine ashore are numerous. Hired cooks: $75-150/day. Private charterers Welcome! Looking for discounts, but not the company, no problem. Meet at the mid-charter party or sail away, and we'll see you on the flight home.
